FAQ & Comments

margin fixQ:  How long does the survey take to complete?

A:  Under one minute. Completing the shortest survey (questions 1-6)  should take you less than one minute. We hope that you will take a few more minutes to share your opinions and contact information, but this is not required. If you wish to complete the additional optional questions, it will take you approximately 5-10 minutes to complete the survey.

Q:  If I answer the longer questions, how will you use that information?

A:  Good question! We are still designing the project but we plan to include a few select facts or quotes from individual commuters with the maps. Our hope is to highlight the individual voices, opinions and experiences of a diverse group of New Yorkers.

Q:  I don’t mind filling out the survey, but I would rather not share my name.

A:  That is fine.  You may share your first name or you may make up an appropriate pseudonym. Please be accurate when you share your commute and job information to allow us to accurately map individual commutes.

Q:  Can you provide the survey in another language?

A:  Yes. Please contact us with a request and we will provide you with a translated survey. We want to reach a wide range of New Yorkers!

Q:  Can you provide a printed version of the survey?

A:  Yes. We would be very happy to deliver print surveys to your organization with a postage paid return envelope.  Please contact us with a request. We want to reach a wide range of New Yorkers!

Q:  Can you come to our office, event or one of our meetings to explain the project and hand out the survey?

A:  Yes. We would be very happy to come to you to explain the project and distribute the survey. Please contact us with the time and location and we will do our best to accommodate your request. We understand you are busy and can be very brief!

Q:  Will participants be given credit?

A:  Yes, if you wish. If you or your organization would like to be given credit, please fill out that section of the survey and we will list you in our credits. However, if you wish to remain anonymous, you may leave that section blank.

Q:  Why are you doing this?

A:  We love New York City and are concerned about growing economic inequality and displacement. We wish to shed light on this issue to encourage action toward realizing a more just and equitable city.

Q:  Will I get paid? Are you making money from this?

No and no. We are not getting paid and we can not pay for participation. We hope you will participate to help us shed light on the growing economic inequality and displacement in NYC.

Q:  I have more questions…

A:  You may email us or add a comment below. Comments  must be approved so will not be immediately posted. We will respond as soon as possible.
